RAJOURI, Oct 10: A three storey house was burnt in a major fire incident at Azmatabad in Thana Mandi area during last night.
Official sources said that house belonging to Mohd Shabir and Tasveer Hussain, sons of Talib Hussain, suddenly caught fire at Azmatabad village in Thana Mandi at around 3 am. Villagers rushed to the spot and started pouring water to douse the flames. The police and jawans from nearby unit also joined the rescue operation but the house being made of wood was completely destroyed in the blaze.
Property worth lakhs was damaged in the incident, however, no casualty was reported. The cause of fire was not immediately known and is being investigated, officials said.
Later, public held protest and alleged that no Fire Station has been established by the Govt at Thana Mandi Sub Division despite occurrence of many such incidents. They said property could have saved had there been a Fire Station at Thana Mandi.
Meanwhile, Chairman MC Thana Mandi, Shakeel Mir demanded that compensation must be provided to the family for the loss. He also demanded sanctioning of Fire Station at Thana Mandi.
Tehsildar Thana Mandi Sahil Ali Shah visited the spot and assured all possible help from the administration to the family at the earliest.
