3 of family, GMC Registrar, RDD official, many security men among 121 +ve in Jammu

45 from Rajouri’s Red Zones, all locals, report Corona positive

JAMMU, July 21: Three members of a family in Bari Brahamna in Samba district, a Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua Registrar, a Rural Development Department (RDD) official and number of security personnel were among 121 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today while 36 patients were treated and discharged from various hospitals.
The Union Territory of Ladakh reported three new positive cases today-one in Leh and two in Kargil districts.
There was no let up in spike in Corona cases in Rajouri district where 48 more persons including four women and an Army soldier today tested COVID positive.
They include 45 from Red Zones and contacts of positive persons and three travelers, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said. All of them were locals with no travel history.
Of them, 29 belonged to Gambhir, five each to Kalakote and Kandi block, six to Sunderbani and three Nowshera. The positive Army soldier hailed from Sunderbani and had returned from Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh.
A number of areas in Rajouri district have already been declared as Red Zones.
An elderly man from Gole Gujral in Jammu whose son was already a COVID patient today tested positive for the virus. Another 27-year-old youth from Gole Gujral who was also contact of the same person reported positive.
Other positives of the district include eight para-military personnel, a youth from Rehari Chungi, middle-aged man from Akhnoor, 24-year-old from Daswal, 27-year-old youth from Manwal, 33-year-old from Channi Himmat, 30-year-old from Bishnah, 46-year-old from Bantalab and 38-year-old from Himachal Pradesh, who is working here.
Eighteen persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Kathua district.
The positives include a female Registrar of Pathology Department in the Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua. Owner of the house where the Registrar hailing from Kashmir was putting up had tested positive after which her sample was taken. Her husband, however, tested negative for the virus.
Two persons from Ward No. 10 Kathua reported positive today as they had come in contact with a positive person of Jammu who had come to attend cremation of a relative.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat said Ward No. 10 has been declared as Containment Zone.
Other positives of the district were two CRPF personnel and rest workers from Basohli, Hiranagar and Kathua who had returned home from different States.
Ramban district reported 11 new cases today, three of them CRPF personnel including two from Bihar and one from Uttar Pradesh. Five positives hailed from Red Zones of Gund Tether and Tether and all of them were women. An employee of private Railways Company also tested positive in Banihal, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ramban Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat said.
Two other positives hailed from Neel and Khan Mohalla of Banihal.
Ten persons including three members of a family, two police personnel and a paper factory worker reported Corona positive in Samba district today.
The positive constables were posted in IRP Ist Reasi and JKAP 7th Channi Himmat, both hailing from Budgam while the paper factory Bari Brahamna worker belonged to Krishna Nagar, Jammu and was under administrative quarantine at Birpur.
Three family members from Ward No. 3 Bari Brahamna including two brothers and a woman reported positive today. All of them were contacts of a positive person. Another positive was a man from Ward No. 1 Bari Brahamna with travel history of Rajouri. Rest of the positives were travelers.
Seven persons today reported positive for the virus in Doda district including one each jawan of CRPF and IRP.
A CIC Operator in the Rural Development Department (RDD) Kishtwar, who belonged to village Sartingal in Bhaderwah, tested positive during random sampling in the village. A 25-year-old pregnant woman from Bhagwah in Doda has also reported positive.
Three other positives of Doda district were travelers from Kashmir.
Lockdown like restrictions have been imposed in Bhaderwah town and surroundings in Doda district after three Corona positive cases were reported there yesterday including a KAS officer.
Seven police personnel reported positive for COVID-19 in Reasi district. Six of them belonged to Kashmir division and one to Jammu, All of them had reported back to duty in Reasi district and were under administrative quarantine at School Training Centre (STC) Talwara.
Udhampur district reported only three positive cases today. They include an ITBP jawan, a 37-year-old pregnant woman from Chenani and 38-year-old man from Red Zone of Shakti Nagar.
Two persons, one of them a BSF personnel and another DSC employee, today tested COVID positive in Poonch district. The BSF jawan who had returned from West Bengal belonged to Surankote and was posted in 180 battalion while the DSC employee hailed from village Juggal and had travel history of Mumbai.
Kishtwar was the lone district today where no fresh Corona cases were reported today.
With today’s positives, total number of Corona cases in Jammu region has gone up to 3133, of which, 1277 were active while 1836 patients have recovered. There have been 20 Corona casualties in the region.
Thirty six persons were today treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region including 18 in Kathua district, nine in Doda, five Ramban, three Jammu and one in Poonch.
Four COVID patients were today discharged from Chest Diseases hospital, Bakshi Nagar, Medical Superintendent Dr Rajeshwar Sharma said.
Meanwhile, three more persons today tested Corona positive in the Union Territory of Ladakh including one in Leh and two in Kargil.
With this, total Coronavirus cases in Ladakh have gone up to 1198—459 in Leh and 739 in Kargil and active cases to 186 including 156 in Leh and 30 in Kargil.
As many as 1010 Corona patients have been treated and discharged from the hospitals while there have been two Corona casualties in Ladakh.
Of total positive cases, 27 were admitted in COVID hospitals, 51 others were in home isolation, five in COVID Care Centres and 102 in Facility Isolation.
