3 nabbed for gang rape of minor girl

MENDHAR, Jan 14:  The police today arrested three youth for committing gang rape on a minor girl hailing from Gursai area of Mendhar in district Poonch last night.
A senior police official said that these youth were evading arrest since July last year and the family members of the accused persons were not cooperating. On the basis of specific information, police party led by SHO Mendhar Sadaqat Qureshi under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary conducted raids at different places and nabbed these youth.
They were identified as Shahzad Ahmed, son of Karam Dad; Sarfraz Ahmed, son of  Sakhi Mohd, both residents of  Sakhi Maidan in Mendhar and Murtaza Ali, son of Mohd Razaq, resident of Their Topa village.  A case FIR No. 97/ 2014, under Sections, 366/109/376 RPC stand registered against them.
Police said these youth were residing in a rented accommodation near Dak Bangalow in Mendhar. They kidnapped 13-year-old girl when she was going to school. They committed rape on her at their room. Then they took her to Sagra area and kept there for the night and committed gang rape on her through out the night. The next day they left the girl near the town and escaped.
Since the girl belonged to poor family, due to lack of pressure from the family members and relatives, the police failed to trace the accused since long. The girl after medical examination had been  restored to the family members. The police had also recorded her statement and she had identified the accused persons.
