Pakistan army tonight confirmed killing of their three jawans and serious injuries to another in retaliatory firing by the Indian troops at forward Pakistani area of Rakhchikri in Rawlakote opposite Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
Sources said massive retaliatory action by the Indian troops was necessitated as forward Pakistani posts were planning “some kind of activity” on Indian side, which could be facilitating infiltration attempt by the militants.
Only yesterday, Indian troops had gunned down two sniper shooters of Pakistan army in Nowshera and Poonch, who were plotting to snipe the Indian Army jawans.
Sources said five killings during last two days have created panic in the Pakistani camp and hectic activity was seen across LoC in Nowshera and Poonch sectors.
Meanwhile, People living in the villages close to Line of Control (LoC) are up in arms against Pakistan army for repeatedly targeting civilians areas, risking their lives every time and wanted Indian Army to take “decisive action” against the enemy troops to settle the issue once and for all.
A number of civilians in Shahpur sub sector of Poonch district, which was rocked by heavy Pakistani shelling and firing yesterday, spoke to a visiting Excelsior correspondent and charged Pakistani troops with targeting civilians in utter frustration as the enemy was unable to match the might of Indian Army.
“The Pakistani troops can’t match the strength of Indian Army. In frustration, they target the civilian areas to cause casualties of civilians and inflict damages on our property,” a local resident Mohammad Atif said.
Another civilian, Atta Mohammad said during past over six months, the local people living on the LoC have suffered losses of property, cattle and failure of crops season etc as Pakistan army suddenly starts unprovoked and heavy shelling on the forward areas.
“It has been becoming very risky for us to visit our fields and other work places in the forward areas during the day as we don’t know when Pakistan army would start shelling and firing and we would be hit. Nevertheless, we have to take risk of our lives to earn our livelihood,” Atta Mohammad said, adding even children and women were unable to sleep during the nights as they were terrified by Pakistan firing and shelling.
“It’s not only the damages we have suffered in the form of houses, structures and cattle but the study of our children has also been badly affected as a number of times the schools falling within shelling and firing ranges had to be closed down due to Pakistan army’s ceasefire violations,” a woman, Atiqa Begum said.
During past six months, she added, the schools have remained closed for a number of days, which have affected studies of our children to large extent.
There were a number of civilians, who batted for earlier construction of bunkers in the forward areas to protect civilians living along the border areas. Some of them suggested that educational institutions in the border villages should be constructed afresh in underground bunkers away from shelling and firing range so that they run during all working days, unaffected by Pakistan army’s shelling and firing.
There were some other people, who wanted the Indian Army to teach Pakistan such a lesson that it stops shelling and firing for the all times to come so that the people could live in peace and children carry out their studies.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan army had yesterday resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing in Shahpur sub sector of Poonch district and Nowshera in Rajouri district. In retaliation, Indian troops had gunned down two Pakistan army’s sniper shooters and destroyed their number of posts and bunkers.
A day before, four Indian Army jawans including a Major had attained martyrdom in Pakistan firing in Keri sector of Rajouri district.
