3 killed as Sumo skids in Mendhar

MENDHAR, Sept 22: Three persons were killed while two others injured when a Tata Sumo vehicle fell down into a deep gorge in Mendhar area of district Poonch this evening.
A police spokesman said that incident took place at around 6.45 pm when the ill-fated vehicle No. HR-1939 was on way from Mendhar to Chhunga village. The vehicle was nearing its destination when the driver lost control and it rolled down about 200 ft into the deep gorge.
While three persons were killed on the spot, two others injured seriously, were rushed to Mendhar Sub District Hospital. The deceased were identified as Khadam Hussain, son of Mohd Din; Mohd Zahir (driver), son of Mohd Sadiq and Gulraj Ahmed, son of Mohd Azam, all residents of Chhunga. Their bodies were shifted to SDH Mendhar.
The injured, Tazeem Akhtar and Naveed-Ul-Hassan, residents of Chhunga village were undergoing treatment in Mendhar hospital. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
