JAMMU, Dec 13: A special team of Health Services today sealed three illegal private clinics and also seized two ultra-sound machines in Rajouri town today.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Madhu Khullar told the Excelsior that the action was taken on the basis of certain complaints from the area recently. The issue was also discussed with the Dy Commissioner Rajouri and accordingly a team of officers including Dy Director Health Jammu Dr Baldev Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Rajouri, S D Singh, CMO Rajouri Dr Zahoor Shawl was constituted.
During the surprise raids, two illegal ultrasound machines were seized and three private clinics were sealed. They included M/S Showkat Mehmood Health Care Ultra-sound center near old district hospital Rajouri, M/S Rifat Ara MCH Ultra-sound Centre, Kheora and M/S SS Medicos Kheora near new district hospital Rajouri.
Reports said that one of the clinics is being run by wife of BMO Darhal, Dr Mehmood. Another unregistered clinic has also been locked. It has been alleged that these clinics were indulging in sex-determination illegally. The team also inspected several other such units at Sunderbani.
On being asked any action taken against BMO Darhal in this connection, the Director said she was waiting for the final report from the team as and when the report comes, a departmental action will certainly be taken against the Block Medical Officer.
