3 houses, 7 shops gutted in blaze

KISHTWAR, Apr 20: Three houses and seven shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Dadpeth village but there was no report of any loss of life.
“The fire broke out in one of the structures at Dadpeth village late last night and immediately engulfed the nearby buildings, a police official said. He said that Fire and Emergency Services personnel managed to put off the blaze after several hours of operation,” a police official said, adding the cause of the fire was not known immediately.

Meanwhile, Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana today visited the affected village and handed over an immediate relief of Rs 5000 cash, blankets, kitchen kit, bucket and solar lights to each of the affected families, out of Red Cross Fund.
The DC was accompanied by Tehsildar Chatroo, Prevaiz Ahmed, General Secretary, Red Cross Kishtwar, Asgar Ali Sheikh, Sarpanches, besides concerned officers. He directed officials concerned to ensure proper and timely compensation to the fire victims. He also directed Tehsildar Chatroo to submit a detailed report at the earliest so that compensation could be provided to the fire victims.
Rana also instructed the people to dump their dry fodder/hay away from their houses to avoid fire incidents in future.
