MENDHAR, July 2: Police today seized PHE Department’s water supply pipes, which were being smuggled for their illegal sale in the open market, here today.
Two brothers among three persons have been arrested for smuggling the water supply pipes carrying PHE Department’s mark. The trio was carrying these pipes in a tractor, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Mendhar Abid Rifique, under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar, Riyaz Tantre.
The arrested accused were identified as Abdul Hamid, his brother Mohd Muneer and driver of the tractor, Waqar Younus, all resident of Mankote.
A case FIR number 115, Under Section 409, 411 and 109 of RPC has been registered in this connection at Mendhar Police Station and further investigation in this regard is going on.
Police had not ruled out more arrests and involvement of PHE officials in the case.
