JAMMU, Dec 1: Three groups of infiltrators had been trying to sneak into this side from the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district along with arms and ammunition. They made the intrusion bids even during three consecutive nights of firing by Pakistan Army from November 25 to 27 but failed.
Reliable sources said that troops have observed the movement of at least three groups across Krishna Ghati sector during firing by the Pakistan Army between November 25 to 27 on the completion of nine years of ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.
The groups were seen moving close to Daaku post of Pakistan Army opposite Krishna Ghati sector. Each group comprised four to five militants. The groups were camping on Pakistan side for the past quite sometime and had earlier also tried to sneak into this side but failed.
Sources said all three groups were desperate to intrude and were being encouraged by Pakistan Army by giving them covering fire. All the time the militants tried to enter into this side, they were given covering firing by the Pakistan Army but troops on this side spotted their movement and forced them to flee back to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from where they had been launched by the militant outfits of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to sources, most of the ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army in Poonch district have been reported from Krishna Ghati sector. Infiltration attempts by the militants were the major reason for firing from across the LoC.
Troops on this side were aware of the designs of the militants and Pakistan Army.
“We are fully aware of the machinations of the militants and the troops across the LoC. That is why, we have been keeping the very high vigil all along the LoC especially Krishna Ghati sector 24×7 as the militants could try to intrude into this side anytime”, sources said.
They added that Army all along the LoC was already on the alert anticipating more infiltration attempts in the winter months when fog would engulf most of the areas, reducing visibility to virtually zero.
As already reported a number of militants were trying to enter into this side from across the LoC and International Border. The Army and the BSF have thwarted the repeated intrusion bids made by the militants.
However, authorities have reports that the militants could make fresh attempts in large numbers to respond to the demand of the ultras on this side, whose number has reduced drastically and rendered zero in many areas.
According to estimates of the Intelligence agencies, nearly 300 militants were waiting to infiltrate across LoC and IB in Jammu region.
