3-day IDEA conference at JU from today

JAMMU, Mar 11:The Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, is organizing 19th Indian Distance Education Association (IDEA) conference from March 12 to 14, 2014.
This is the second time the IDEA conference is being hosted by JU DDE, which is one of the oldest open and distance learning institutions in India and very active in promoting distance learning in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
IDEA is the leading national professional body of academicians, policy makers, administrators and other stakeholders of distance and open learning system of education.
IDEA organizes seminars every year to deliberate upon issues relating to open and online education. Each annual seminar is dedicated to a specific theme so that comprehensive analysis can be carried out on that particular issue.
This year, the 19th IDEA conference is focusing on a theme “Quality Assurance and Sustenance of open distance Education: issues, concerns, challenges, and development.”
Within this broader theme, the Conference is deliberating on many sub-themes, viz. “User Friendly Technologies and Sustenance of ODL”, “Organizational Management and Institution Learning”, “Quality Content Design and Delivery in ODL”, “Social Networking and Open Distance Learning System”, “Quality Concerns and Best Practices in ODL”, “Open Distance Learning and Capacity Building”, “Teaching in Distance Education – Prospects and Constraints”, “Distance Education Experiences Across India “ , “Learner Support and Learner Communities” , and “Distance Education and Women Empowerment”.
Many prominent academicians, policy makers and practitioners of distance learning are taking part in the three-day conference.
One of the important aspects of the scheduled conference is that Commonwealth of Learning, the Canada based organization that supports open learning in Commonwealth countries, actively collaborated with DDE JU in publishing the conference proceedings.
