SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Designed as an interactive and informative platform, a three-day exhibition on the New Criminal Laws, organized by the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK), concluded today.
The closing ceremony was attended by Sujit Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch J&K, as the Chief Guest.
In his address, he commended the initiative for its role in bridging the gap between law enforcement agencies and the public through active engagement and education.
The event, held at the J&K Police Public School, Bemina, aimed at raising public awareness about India’s recently enacted Criminal Laws.
Inaugurated on September 11 by the Lieutenant Governor, the exhibition received an overwhelming response from students, legal professionals, civil society members and concerned citizens.
CBK said that the key focus of the exhibition was to educate the public about the three new legislations that constitute the backbone of India’s reformed criminal justice system, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.
“Over the span of three days, the exhibition welcomed approximately 9,000 visitors, with more than 5,500 attendees on the first two days and an additional 2,500 on the final day,” it said.
The enthusiastic turnout, CBK said, highlights a growing public interest in understanding the scope and implications of the new legal framework.
“Designed as an interactive and informative platform, the exhibition successfully fostered legal literacy, promoted civic responsibility, and encouraged public dialogue on these vital legal reforms that aim to redefine the criminal justice landscape in India.”
