RAJOURI, Nov 25: An Assistant Sub Inspector, a Head Constable and a Selection Grade Constable were placed under suspension after an under-trial, invol-ved in murder case, escaped from District Jail (Dangri) here this afternoon.
A senior police official told the Excelsior that incident took place at around 4. 30 pm today when the under trial Mohd Riaz, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Muradpur (Rajouri) was being shifted in District Jail, Dangri (Rajouri) from the Sessions Court, Rajouri. As he reached the gate of the Jail in Police vehicle and was being taken towards the barrack, he gave slip to the cops and managed to escape along with chains. The police party chased him but he could not be over powered.
The Jail authorities sounded alert. The police parties started chase for the accused from all the sides but he couldn’t be traced till late this evening. The accused was involved in case FIR No. 102/ 2016 at Police Station Nowshera. He was involved in a murder case.
Meanwhile, the District Police chief Rajouri, placed head of police party deployed with this under trial and two more cops under suspension and also directed SHO to lodge an FIR against them. They have been identified as ASI Din Mohd, Head Constable –Mohd Safoor and SGC, Ghulam Mustafa. A case FIR No. 522/ 2017 under Sections 223/224 RPC were registered against the members of Police team and the under trial, Mohd Riaz.
A police officer claimed that at least five police parties were conducting raids at various places and all the nakas on the highways and link roads in the entire district have been put on high alert.
