TRF militant arrested in Pampore

Srinagar, Oct 29: Three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were this evening shot dead by militants in Y K Pora area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and a massive hunt has been launched by the security forces against the militants responsible for the killings.
An official said that all the three were in the house of a BJP worker Umer Ramzan Hajam and militants were waiting outside. As they, came out, a group of militants caught hold of them and took them along. They were fired at hardly a hundred meters away from Hajam’s house.
All the three persons were dead on the spot. They were removed to the Emergency hospital in Qazigund. However, they were declared brought dead at the hospital.
A massive operation has been launched in the area against the militants responsible for the killing of the BJP workers.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that three BJP workers were shot dead by militants in Kulgam.
“Today at about 2020 hours Kulgam Police received information about a terror crime incident at village YK Pora where terrorists had fired upon three BJP workers. Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot”, he said.
He said that the preliminary investigation revealed that militants fired upon three BJP workers identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo son of Ghulam Ahmad Yatoo, resident of YK Pora who was BJP District Youth General secretary, Umer Rashid Beigh son of Abdul Rasheed Beigh BJYM District Executive member Kulgam, resident of Sophat Devsar and Umer Ramzan Hajam son of Mohd Ramzan resident of YK Pora BJYM district general secretary Kulgam , at Eidgah YK Pora due to which they got injured. “They were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where they were declared as brought dead”, he added.
He said that police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. “Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on”, he added.
Militants this year have killed eight BJP leaders and workers in Kashmir. A BJP leader and his brother and father were killed earlier this year in Bandipora. A BJP Sarpanch was killed in Kulgam and another BJP worker was killed in Budgam.
Police had provided adequate security for the BJP workers and leaders and some of them were even provided secure accommodations at various locations across Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the killings of political workers who were shot dead by the militants in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Expressing his anguish over the killings, he said that the perpetrators of violence are the enemies of humanity and such cowardly acts can not be justified.
Law shall take its course and the guilty shall be dealt with sternly, he added.
The Lt Governor assured all the possible help from the Government to the bereaved families.
He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina has also strongly condemned the killings of BJP workers and described them as dynamic.
“Coward Pakistani terrorists killed three youth workers in Kulgam.” The were dynamic workers. They attained martyrdom for Bharat Mata. Coward Pakistanis will have to pay heavy price for this,” Raina said.
In the meantime, police today arrested a local TRF militant in Below area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The militant was arrested by a joint team of Police, army’s 44RR and CRPF during Naka duty in Below area.
Two grenades were recovered from his possession. The arrested militant has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar resident of Khankabagh Pampore in Pulwama district.
