3 attempts of bovine smuggling foiled, 16 cattle rescued

JAMMU, Dec 23: Police today foiled three separate attempts of bovine smuggling in twin districts of Reasi and Udhampur thus rescuing 16 number of cattle besides arresting the accused in two cases.
During wee hours today, a police party of Police Station Reasi, led by SHO Ashwani Kumar Sharma, intercepted a load carrier Tata Mobile at Kanjli Dera Baba and rescued eight bovine animals. The smugglers were carrying these bovine animals towards Kashmir via Domail without permission. The vehicle, which was used for transportation of bovine animals, was also seized while the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of dense fog.
Two similar attempts of bovine smuggling were foiled under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehmbal in Udhampur district. A Police party, led by SHO, Insp Virender Gupta, seized a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK 20A- 4794) and rescued 4 bovine animals besides arresting driver Sher Ali son of Mohd Din of Talwara while I/c PP Tikri SI Jaswinder Chowdhry seized another Tata Mobile (JK 02BV- 5322) and rescued four bovines besides arresting driver Arshad Ali son of Zunaid of Krimchi.
In this connection, case FIR number 219 and 220, under section 279/188 IPC and 3 PCA have been registered in Police Station Rehmbal.
