SRINAGAR, Oct 27: Police today arrested three absconders who had been evading arrest for several years in separate cases in Kulgam district and Sopore area of Baramulla district.
A police spokesperson said, “In Kulgam, police arrested an absconder identified as Mohammad Aslam Hajam, son of Siraj-ud-Din Hajam, a resident of Dalwas Nashri, Batote. He was wanted in connection with FIR No. 138/2004 under Sections 15/18 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Qazigund.”
In a separate operation, police in Sopore arrested two absconders who had been on the run for years in different cases. “One of them, Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh, son of Noor Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Khawajabagh, Baramulla, was wanted in FIR No. 327/2006 under Sections 366, 376, and 109 RPC of Police Station Sopore and had been absconding since 2018,” the spokesperson said.
“The second absconder, Nissar Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Afzal Mir, a resident of Khanmoh Rafiabad, was wanted in FIR No. 12/2010 under Sections 363, 376, and 109 RPC of Police Station Panzalla. He had been absconding since 2015,” he added.
After completing legal formalities, the accused will be produced before the competent courts of law, the spokesperson said.
