KUPWARA, Aug 22: The 2nd District Kupwara Judo Championship 2025-26, organized by District Kupwara Judo Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, concluded successfully at Indoor Sports Hall, Handwara here today. Over 200 participants from various schools and clubs took part in the championship.
The opening ceremony was graced by Altaf Hussain Peerzada, Principal, Doon International School, Kupwara and the closing ceremony was presided over by Bhat Rubeena, Chairperson, Santific School, Tikker, Zahoor Ahmad, Manager Indoor Hall Handwara and Towseef Ahmad, Chairman, Women’s Cricket Club, were guests of honour at closing ceremony.
Doon International School Kupwara emerged as the overall winner, followed by SSM Tikker (2nd) and Team Kupwara (3rd).
In Pre-Sub Junior (U/12), standout winners included Ahtisham-ul-Haq, Shahzib Lone, Aasan Mushtaq, Amir Ali and Huzaif Ahmad. In U/10, Zahid Mir, Rahan Parray, Mir Aliyas, and Mehran Riyaz won golds. Under-14 category saw champions like Mohammad Uzair, Suhaib Bilal, Haziq Khowja, and Junaid Rafiq. Under-17 winners included Shahid Hameed, Talib Sofi, Mudasir Ahmad, and Talib Mir. In the senior category, Sadam Hussain, Aadil Rasheed and Aijaz Sofi clinched gold.
