2G services extended up to Apr 15

JAMMU, Apr 3: Notwithstanding the growing demand for restoration of high-speed 4G internet in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Home, J&K Government, today ordered the continuance of 2G mobile data services only till April 15 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an order in this regard, issued today by Principal Secretary, Home Department, Shaleen Kabra, the internet speed on mobile phones will be restricted to 2G only as the internet speed restrictions have not posed any hindrance to COVID-19 control measures or to access online education content.
“The directions/restrictions contained in Government order number 21(TSTS) of 2020, dated 26-03-2020 shall continue and remain in force till 15th April, 2020, unless notified earlier,” reads today’s order.
Therefore, Postpaid SIM card holders shall be provided with access to the internet whereas such access shall not be made available on prepaid SIM cards, unless verified as per the norms applicable for postpaid connections. Fixed line internet connectivity with mac-binding shall be available.
