JAMMU, Nov 28: The Forest Department teams during two separate operations, removed encroachment on nearly 292 kanals of land in Bathuni and Rajdani area of Rajouri Forest Division.
Official sources said that a joint team of Forest Department led by Range Officer Rajouri, Khan Baz and Inspector, Forest Protection Force Abdul Rehman assisted by field staff removed 35- year-old encroachment from compartment No 45/R of Bathuni Block in Rajouri Range. The area measuring nearly 292 kanals was under illegal occupation since long. The Divisional Forest Officer, Rajouri, Anup Soni, was closely monitoring the eviction process.
In yet another anti-encroachment operation, the Block Forester, Mirza Ghulam Shah reacting promptly upon a specific information reached Rajdhani Beat, compartment No 71, where some persons were in the process grabbing forest land with a JCB.
The attempt of encroachment was foiled and JCB was seized. The confiscation proceeding were initiated by DFO, Rajouri against the accused persons under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act.
