290 PHE, 319 Irrigation, 366 Flood Control schemes restored in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, Jan 31: As many as 319 Irrigation, 366 Flood Control and 290 PHE supply schemes damaged by September 2014 floods have been restored either temporarily or fully.
This was disclosed in a review meeting held today at Anantnag chaired by District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Tasduq Jeelani in which the Superintending Engineers and concerned Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control participated.
It was given out in the meeting that under PHE sector, out of 382 damaged schemes 290 have been restored involving completion of 762 works at an expenditure of Rs.4.30 crore under Irrigation sector which covers 79 canals and Khuls. As many as 415 works were damaged by the recent floods, out of which 319 works have been restored. An amount of Rs. 1.40 crore has been released under this sector, out of which Rs. 35 lakhs has been expended.
It was also given out in the meeting that Flood Control Department cover 5 nallahs in the district which were damaged upto the extent of Rs. 63 crore. In total 690 works were damaged, out of which 366 works were restored for which Rs. 1 crore has been released and expended.
District Development Commissioner urged upon all the Engineers to work in close coordination and to speed up the pace of work so that the basic infrastructure is restored at an earliest.
