JAMMU, Feb 16: Government today said that 29 people had died, 30 were injured and 15,712 buildings were damaged due to heavy rains and flash-floods in Jammu region in 2013.
In a written reply to the question of JSM MLA, Ashwani Kumar, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation said that 29 persons lost their lives in Jammu region while as 30 sustained injuries due to heavy rains and flash-floods last year.
Of the total damaged buildings were 1,205 cattle sheds, 96 commercial establishments and institutions, the Minister said, adding 1164 livestock and cattle also perished in the flash-floods. Moreover, 48,619 kanals of land was also damaged in the flash-floods.
About the relief provided to the affected people, the Minister said that an amount of Rs 25,61,550 had been provided to the affected families as compensation.
