JAMMU, May 12: In a major fire incident, 27 huts (jhuggis) were completely gutted in Bharat Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Domana police station.
Police spokesman said that, a major fire broke out in a hut at Bharat Nagar, Bantalab this evening, which later engulfed the nearby huts.
On getting information, the fire tenders along with the teams of fire fighters rushed to the spot but by that time around 27 huts were completed gutted, he said, adding that the fire tenders controlled the fire from spreading to other parts of the area.
“No injury or casualty in the incident has been reported, while, the exact loss could not be ascertained immediately”, he added. A case has been registered at Chinore police post and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) visited the spot and assured compensation under rules.
