KATHUA, July 6: In a major success, Kathua police today foiled two attempts of bovine smuggling via Lakhanpur under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur and PS Rajbagh and rescued 27 cattle.
A police party of PS Lakhanpur headed by Inspector, Sanjeev Chib, SHO Lakhanpur while performing vehicle checking duty at NHW bi-pass road Lakhanpur, intercepted a Canter bearing Registration No RJ05GA-4026 coming from Punjab towards Jammu. The driver of the vehicle stopped the vehicle away from the naka point and fled away from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 20 cattle were found laden in the said canter without any valid permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 63/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation started.
In another incident, a police party of Police Station, Rajbagh headed by Inspector, Bhopinder Singh, SHO Rajbagh laid a Naka at NHW outside Police Station, Rajbagh and intercepted a truck bearing registration Number UP68T-5668 coming from Jammu.
During checking of the vehicle, seven bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were being transported illegally without any permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place.
The accused person has been identified as: Pervez, S/o Jabardin resident of Kaila spur Gagalheri. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 129/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Rajbagh.
