KATHUA, Apr 22: In a joint operation the team of Forest, Revenue and Police officials today  got 260 kanal forest land cleared from the encroachers in Basohli Range of Billawar Forest Division.
Official sources said that operation was led by Range Officer Basohli, N K Verma, assisted by Naib Tehsildar and SHO Basohli under the direct supervision of Conservator of Forests Jammu East Circle, Brij Sharma and DFO Billawar, Satpal. The team retrieved land from the occupation of nine villagers at Dodla in Basohli Range.
CF Jammu East, Mr Sharma when contacted said that it was old encroachment and the land grabbers had converted the land as fields and they were now using the same for growing crop for some time. It was nearly 260 kanal area falling under compartment No. 30 and 31 of Basohli Forest Range. Besides this, 32 kanal Gha Charai area was also got vacated from their possession by the team. Nine persons have been booked under relevant Forest Act. The RO has been directed to fence this retrieved area, the CF maintained.
Those against action has been taken are- Isher Dass, son of Billu, Amir Chand, son of Gunnu Ram, Nanak, Shobu and Kamlu, sons of Gulabu, Amru and Gian Chand, sons of Durgu, Gulam Hussain, son of Habib, Akram son of Haider and Mansha, son of Dhani Ram.
