25 test +ve in Kashmir, J&K tally 639

Srinagar, May 1: Twenty five people including five members of a family of an ISM pharmacist tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir today taking the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 639.
Among the fresh Coronavirus cases, 11 were confirmed at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura and include six from Kupwara, two from Shopian and one each from Baramulla, Bandipora and Budgam districts.
Fourteen cases were confirmed at the COVID-19 testing laboratory at Chest Disease hospital Dalgate and include 12 from Anantnag and two from Srinagar districts.
The cases from Anantnag include five members of a family comprising 52 year old woman, her two daughters aged 22 and 25 years, a 16-year-old son and her 32 year old brother of an ISM pharmacist from Tailwani Achabal. The 56-year-old pharmacist, posted at PHC Achabal, had tested positive for the last week.
The other cases include 8-year-old girl, 12-year-old boy besides two men aged 60 and 80 years apart from a 48-year-old woman from Larnoo and a 55-year-old woman from Sangam area.

Six cases from Kupwara were from Gonipora Handwara, all men with three of them in 60s while as others were aged 40, 41 and 50 years.
The Srinagar positive cases include 17-year-old girl and 46-year-old woman from Bemina area.
The Shopian cases include 12-year-old boy and a 55-year-old woman from Heerpora, one of the most affected areas in the district.
The cases from Bandipora, Baramulla and Budgam districts include a 23-year-old woman from Gundjahangir, a 28-year-old man from Hardchilloo and a 39-year-old man from Chrar-e-Sharief areas respectively.
The man from Budgam has travel history to New Delhi. Others are contacts of previous COVID-19 positive cases.
With these fresh cases, the number of COVID-19 positive cases have gone up to 639 and out of these 384 are active, 247 have recovered and eight have died.
Bandipora has highest positive cases at 128 out of which 92 are active, 35 have recovered and one person died; Anantnag district has 95 positive cases with 94 active and one death; Srinagar has 91 with 20 active and 69 have recovered and two died; Baramulla has 85 with 56 active and 26 recovered and three deaths; Shopian has 74 positive cases with 57 active and 17 recoveries; Kupwara has 55 cases with 36 positive and 19 have recovered; Budgam has 21 cases with 10 active and 11 recovered; Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with one active and 13 recovered; Kulgam has 11 positive cases with 8 active and 3 have recovered; Pulwama has 7 positive cases with 5 active and three have recovered.
And today, 31 more COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir Division.
So far, 21695 COVID-19 tests have been conducted and 21056 samples have tested as negative and 639 positive.
The administration has enlisted 71837 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases for surveillance which include 8109 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 185 in Hospital Quarantine, 384 in hospital isolation and 8430 under home surveillance. Besides, 54721 persons have completed their surveillance period.
And Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today visited the Parimpora Fruit and vegetable market to finalise its mechanism of operation in view of concerns due to COVID-19 outbreak.
The visit comes in the wake of reports of violations of social distancing norms and the decision to restrict the time of operation of the mandi and put in place other measures.
It may be mentioned it has been decided that the Mandi will now remain closed except from 8 am to 12 noon during which time it will operate strictly as per social distancing guidelines and under the watch of law enforcement officials.
The Health officials have taken 230 samples from people working at and visiting the Parimpora mandi. The samples will be tested for COVID-19.
