SRINAGAR : About 25 houses were gutted in a devastating fire in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said here today.
They said fire broke out in a house at Jalal Sahib, Baramulla last night. However, the fire spread to nearby houses before the fire tenders could reach there. They said 14 fire tenders from different parts of the town were rushed to the spot besides help from the Army was sought to douse the leaping flames, which could be seen at a distance.
Deputy Commissioner and senior police officials were also present during the fire extinguish operation, they said adding that the cause of fire was not known. No one was injured in the incident, they said adding that district administration had launched relief operation for the affected families. Meanwhile, three houses were gutted in another fire incident this morning at Voil Kokernag in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. (AGENCIES)
