JAMMU, Dec 27: Keeping in view the ongoing agitation of farmers in Punjab, Railway authorities have decided to cancel 24 trains (to and fro Jammu/Katra/Udhampur) that were scheduled to start their journey tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. However, the authorities have also decided to run three-trip reserved mail express special train between Amritsar and Katra for next three days i.e. from December 28 to 30.
Divisional Traffic Manager (DTM) of Ferozpur Division, Mahesh Kumar told Excelsior that 24 incoming/outgoing trains which were scheduled to start their journey on December 28 or 29 had been cancelled fully. He said the trains which have been cancelled for tomorrow included train number 12207 (Kathgodam-Jammu), 12238 (Jammu-Banaras), 12265 (Delhi Sarai-Jammu), 12549 (Durg-Jammu), 14034 (Katra-Old Delhi), 14503 (Kalka-Katra), 14609 (Rishikesh-Katra), 14610 (Katra-Rishikesh) and 22462 (Katra-New Delhi).
He said the train number 12237 (Banaras-Jammu), 12238 (Jammu-Banaras), 12266 (Jammu-Delhi Sarai), 12425 (New Delhi-Jammu), 12426 (Jammu-New Delhi), 12445 (New Delhi-Katra), 12446 (Katra-New Delhi), 14033 (Old Delhi-Katra), 14034 (Katra-Old Delhi), 14504 (Katra-Kalka), 14609 (Rishikesh-Katra), 14610 (Katra-Rishikesh), 22439 (New Delhi-Katra), 22440 (Katra-New Delhi) and 22461 (New Delhi-Katra) have been cancelled for December 29.
The DTM further revealed that they have also decided to short originate journey of 17 trains which were scheduled to start their journey tomorrow or on December 29 from Jammu/Katra/Udhampur railway station. “The train number 18310, (Jammu-Sambalpur), 14646 (Jammu-Jaisalmer) and 12472 (Katra-Mumbai Bandra Terminus) which were scheduled to start their journey tomorrow will now begin from Old Delhi, Ludhiana Junction and New Delhi, respectively instead of their original place of start,” he said.
He said trains which will be short originated on December 29 will be train number 19224 (Jammu-Jodhpur) and 19226 (Jammu-Ahmedabad), which will now start their journey from Bhatinda, 12414 (Jammu-Ajmer) from Old Delhi, 11450 (Katra-Jabalpur) from Dhuri Junction, 12356 (Jammu-Patna), 14662 (Jammu-Barmer), 15656 (Katra-Kamakhya) and 22942 (Udhampur-Indore) from Ludhiana Junction, 22432 (Udhampur-Prayagraj) from Meerut City, 11078 (Jammu-Pune), 12472 (Katra-Mumbai Bandra) and 12920 (Katra-Dr Ambedkar Nagar) from New Delhi, 13152 (Jammu-Kolkata) from Saharanpur and 15652 (Jammu-Guwahati) from Ambala Cantt Railway Station.
The officer also disclosed that it has been decided to short terminate 4 trains scheduled for tomorrow and 5 trains scheduled for December 29. He said the trains which will be short terminated tomorrow are train number 18309 (Sambalpur-Jammu), which will end its journey at Old Delhi, 11449 (Jabalpur-Katra) at Dhuri Junction, 22431 (Prayagraj-Udhampur) at Meerut City and 13151 (Kolkata-Jammu) at Saharanpur Railway Station while on December 29, the train number 19223 (Ahmedabad-Jammu) and 19225 (Jodhpur-Jammu) will be short terminated at Bathinda Junction, 12413 (Ajmer-Jammu) at Old Delhi, and 11077 (Pune-Jammu) and 12919 (Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Katra) at New Delhi Railway Station.
The DTM said Railways have also decided to ply three-trip reserved mail express special train between Amritsar and Katra for next three days i.e. from December 28 to 30. “The train will depart at 12 noon from Katra and reach 6:15 pm at Katra on each day,” he added.
