JAMMU, Dec 27: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is committed for the promotion and development of cricket in the Union Territory, said Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta-Member Administration while handing over nearly 100 cricket balls to Randhir Singh alias Rajan Sir for their trainees, here today.
Rajan alias Randhir Singh has been imparting training to the cricket aspirants at Mini Stadium Parade Ground- a popular cricketing venue in Jammu among the local youth from where a large numbers of former and current Ranji players have emerged.
“Large number of players between the age group of 10 to 16 years practice daily at the said venue and have been facing problem of availability of kits including cricket balls,” said Member Administration, adding that in this regard, the JKCA was approached by these players under the leadership of coach Rajan for providing ball for the practise.
The application was routed to the Sub Committee via Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). “On receipt of the application the JKCA’s members committee including Anil Gupta, Sunil Sethi and Mithun Manhas visited the facility and were impressed by the efforts being made by Rajan Sir to train local youth and  decided to provide maximum help possible, so that youth can continue to practice and develop into fine cricketers,” said Brig Anil Gupta.
“Unfortunately despite funds made available by BCCI, much emphasis was not laid in the past on creation of cricketing facilities and infrastructure even in the Capital cities,” he alleged.
