KATHUA, June 11: Twenty four persons were injured in a road accident at Kashid Morh on Basholi road when a load carrier vehicle carrying them skidded on a sharp curve and turned turtle.
As per reports, a vehicle of Mahindra make bearing registration no. JK08L-7150 was carrying devotees returning from some religious function and when it reached link road Padrara Hutt, it turned turtle.
Twenty four persons were injured out of which 16 were shifted to CHC Bhoond for treatment.
A police team from the nearest Police Post reached the spot and immediately shifted the injured to PHC Bhoond.
Five critically injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Basholi while some with minor injuries were given first aid and were discharged.
Expressing shock over the accident, MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh tweeted that he has spoken to DC Kathua, Rakesh Minhas after receiving the news about the road accident near Kashid.
Dr. Singh said that all possible assistance will be provided to the injured.
The ill fated vehicle was driven by Ajay Singh, son of Harbans Singh, resident of village Kasheer Hutt, Basohli.
The injured were identified as Anu Radha, 30, wife of Kaku Ram, resident of village Kasheer Hutt; Radhika Devi, 9, daughter of Deep Kumar; Ajay Kumar, 25, son of Kaku Ram; Bhabeshan Singh, 34, son of Kaku Ram; Kirna Devi, 33, wife of Pawan Kumar; Gian Chand, 75, son of Dhani Ram; Surjit Singh, 13, son of Guddu Ram; Rohit Singh, son of Romesh Singh; Kushi Devi, daughter of Pawan Kumar; Bindu Devi daughter of Anchal Singh; Khem Raj, 45, son of Partapu; Surshita Devi, 40, wife of Khem Raj; Bharti Devi, 12, daughter of Khem Raj; Raksha Devi, 26, wife of Naresh Kumar; Lalit Singh, son of Balwant Singh; Santoshi Devi, wife of Ashok Kumar; Minakshi Devi, daughter of Ashok Kumar; Tamana daughter of Kaku Ram-all residents of village Kasheer Hutt; Rinku Thakur, 13, son of Pawan Kumar, resident of village Dana Hutt; Ekta Rani, 22, daughter of Madan Lal; Asha Rani, 45, wife of Joginder Singh; Sahil Kumar, 15, son of Madan Lal; Balbir Singh, 17, son of Romesh Singh and Ashok Kumar, 34, son of Chandu Lal-all residents of village Kasheer Hutt.
Nine injured persons were referred to GMC Kathua and 15 were under treatment at CHC Basohli.
