RAJOURI, Feb 7: At least 24 persons were injured one of them seriously when a mini-bus went out of control and rolled down into fields near Gurdan Balla this afternoon.
Reports said the mishap took place at around 1.50 pm when the ill-fated vehicle, bearing registration No. JK-14B was on way to Rajouri town from Gurdan Balla. The vehicle was over loaded and the driver lost control at a sharp curve. The vehicle rolled down into the low lying fields. The vehicle took at least two turns resulting in sustained injuries to 24 persons. The bus driver managed to escape from the spot.
Immediately after the mishap, the jawans from the nearby unit rushed and started rescue operation. The police and locals of the area also reached there. All the injured persons were removed to District Hospital, Rajouri. A 2-year-old child, Mohd Fazeel, son of Zahid Hussain was referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu for serious head injuries. The people collected money for this poor patient for sending him to Jammu but local hospital authorities charged Rs 2300 for providing Govt ambulance for shifting Fazeel to GMC Jammu, a family member alleged.
The other injured undergoing treatment in Rajouri hospital were identified as Yaqoob (30), resident of Gurdan Balla, Mohd Aziz (28) from Gurdan Balla, Kaneez Fatima (30) from Rajouri, Ali Shah (40) from Dhanore, Talib Hussain (50) from Gurdan Balla, Tameez Bagum (20) from Rajouri, Nasreen (40) from Rajouri, Nasreen Akhtar (20) from Rachhwa, Mudhtaq (40) from Fatehpur, Kaneez Bagum (50) from Gurdan Balla, Zaheer Shah (18), son of Talib Hussain from Manji Dhar, Mohd Javed (17) from Gurdan, Zaheer (18), son of Sagir from Gurdan, Kulsoom Bi (50) from Gurdan, Zahid (29) from Gurdanballa, Abdul Begum (40) from Fatehpur, Bashir Bagum (50) from Fatehpur, Gulnaz (15) from Fatehpur, Mohd Afzal (23) from Gurdan, Mohd Riaz (42) from Rehan, Ajaz (27) from Gurdan, Kulsoom (45) from Dassal and Nassir (20) from Rehan in district Rajouri. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
