JAMMU, Feb 17: In two separate cases, Jhajjar Kotli and Nagrota police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 24 cattle and arresting one smuggler.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK08G-2558 to stop but the driver accelerated the vehicle.
The alert police team gave a chase to the vehicle but could not arrest the driver and his accomplice if any, who fled away after leaving the vehicle at Dammi (Jhajjar Kotli). During checking, the police team rescued 18 bovines from the vehicle.
A case under relevant Section was registered in this connection at police station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from police station RS Pura rescued 6 bovine animals being illegally transported by a pedestrian namely Bagh Hussain son of Alif Din, resident of Purana Pind (RS Pura).
According to police sources, the accused was arrested and a case was registered in this connection at police station RS Pura.
