Srinagar, Feb 15: The 23rd Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM), an international theatre festival organised by the National School of Drama (NSD) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, is scheduled to be held from February 16 to 20 at Tagore Hall in Srinagar.
During a press conference in Srinagar, Suman Vaidya, Festival Controller at NSD, unveiled the lineup of captivating plays set to grace the stage during the festival. He expressed pride in presenting five masterpieces spanning various genres and languages. “Among the highlights are ‘Agin Tiriya,’ written by Ravindra Bharti and directed by Sangeeta Tiple; ‘Aarmin Pather,’ directed by Shaah-E-Jehan Ahmad Bhagat; ‘Sifar,’ written and directed by Sachin Malvi from Mumbai, Maharashtra; and ‘Fele Asha Magahertz ,’ written and directed by Bhaskar Mukhariee,” he said. The festival will culminate with a performance of “The Global City,” written by Nicola Pianzola and directed by Anna Dora Dorno.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the festival, Vaidya emphasised its significance as a platform for diverse voices and narratives to flourish. “This event underscores our unwavering commitment to artistic excellence,” he remarked. “It is a celebration of the transformative power of the performing arts.”
Highlighting the grandeur of the festival, Vaidya urged theatre enthusiasts not to miss out on the opportunity to witness exceptional creativity and theatrical presentation. “For theatre lovers and aspirants alike, there is much to learn and experience and for the general public, it offers a chance to indulge in the beauty of diverse cultures through the magic of theatre,” he said.
