23 violators booked, 10 shops sealed, 17 FIRs registered: SSP Jammu

JAMMU, May 15: Around 23 persons were booked, 10 shops were sealed and 17 FIRs were registered for violation of the SOPs, issued in wake of rise in COVID-19 pandemic cases by the District Magistrate (DM) Jammu here today.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli, around twenty three persons were booked for SOPs violation. Seventeen FIRs were registered at different police stations of Jammu district against the violators, 10 shops were sealed and 2 vehicles were seized in the past 24 hours.
SSP stated that they are getting good response from the people in breaking the chain of COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the policemen standing on the ground are facilitating the movement of the health workers, people in need of health services and other essential purposes.
As COVID positive cases continue to rise, all members of the public are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, visit only local and nearby shops for essentials and medicines, use masks and sanitizers and avoid crowds.
He also asked people to wash hands frequently, cover nose and mouth with handkerchief/tissue while sneezing and coughing, avoid participating in large gathering, avoid close contact with anyone, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
SSP also sought the cooperation of the general public with the health workers and police so as to have an effective and efficient response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
