SRINAGAR, Nov 10: A couple of days after shelling by Pakistani troops killed a soldier and a woman in Uri sector, 23 Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) fresh guests arrived here while 20 Kashmiris crossed the to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947.
The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between India and Pakistan was suspended last Monday due to Muharram.
As many as 56 returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources told here.
They said 23 fresh PoK residents, including seven women and four children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot this afternoon to meet their relatives.
As many as 15 Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned to their homes after completing stay their. They included five woman and two children.
Sources said 20 Kashmiris, including six women and four children, crossed over to other side to meet their relatives, separated due to partition.
They said 41 PoK residents, who had come here in earlier buses also returned to their homes today. They included 17 women and five children.
The bus service, introduced after India and Pakistan agreed to allow divided families to travel on permits instead of International passport in 2005, has helped thousands of families living on both sides of the LoC to meet each other. (Agencies)
