22nd World Disabled Day observed

JAMMU, Dec 3: Cultural items, rally and painting competition marked the 22nd World Disabled Day.
To commemorate the International Day of Disabled People and spread the message of this year theme “Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology” diverse activities related to the day were carried out by specially able children at the Amar Singh Club Jammu here today with enthusiasm and fervor.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu was the chief guest, while as Sameer Bharati Conservator Officer for Forests, RC Puri Secretary Indian Red Cross Jammu Region, Siddhart Sharma Secretary Amar Singh Club, BB Raina Chairman Pelican cables, Hemu Karki Art of living Instructor, Akhila Magotra Educationist, Vikrant Dogra Secretary FIBDO, Hitesh Badyal President Nirvana Academy, Ashq Malik and Sh. Vikul Gupta Chairman State Analyst and Arivan Group were also present.
As 45 children from various special schools of Jammu displayed skills of their talent. All the participants were awarded medals along with certificate of participation.
Earlier, Umesh Sharma Chairperson, Disabled Care Foundation, presented the welcome address.
CEO Jammu Tarsem Lal who is Chairman SSA celebrated World Disability Day under Inclusive Education for Disable Children (IED) component of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
State Project Director SSA/RMSA, SA Leharwal presided over the function. Director School Education RA Inqlabi was chief guest.
In the programme disabled children from different Government Schools and Special schools presented cultural programme including skits, songs, dances and other creative activities.
To mark the celebration of World Disability Day, a colourful programme for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) was today organized by Education Department Doda in collaboration with District Disability and Rehabilitation Centre Doda and District Social Welfare Doda at Sports Stadium Doda.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Imam-ud-Din was chief guest on the occasion and the programme was organized under the umbrella of SSA under Ujala Society. District Co-coordinator Inclusive Education for Disabled (IED) Kismat Singh, District Disability and Rehabilitation Officer Doda Dr Baber Ali Khan, representative of District Social Welfare officer Doda, parents of the CWSN, Chief Education Officer Ayaz Mughal were also present.
A dance competition, a painting competition and a rally was also organized on the occasion.
