225 schools in Jammu district sans permanent toilet facilities

JAMMU :  About 225 schools in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir lack proper toilet facilities.
“Toilet facilities are available in all the schools of the Jammu district, which also include Girls Schools of Jammu West Constituency,” Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education Tara Chand told the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today while replying to the calling attention motion.
MLA Chaman Lal Gupta had moved calling attention motion in the House drawing attention of the Minister in-charge to a matter of urgent public importance of the schools without toilets causing hardships to the students especially girl students.
“Moreover temporary arrangements have been made in 225 schools of Jammu district where the construction work of toilet units are in progress,” the Minister said.
There are 51 schools existing in Jammu West constituency having toilet facility, however in mobile primary school Lakkar Mandi, temporary arrangement of toilet facility has also been made, he said.
“Therefore hardships to the students especially girls students in their respective schools does not arise,” Mr Chand added.
