JAMMU, Jan 29: The protest of the Jal Shakti Department employees is going on for last 220 days and it is a big proof of the failure of the Government as instead of solving their problems, the Government is giving them gifts of sticks and arrests.
This was stated by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state spokesperson Jagdeep Singh while addressing a press conference, here today. He said that Jal Shakti Department is the backbone of the society and the contractual employees like daily wagers working in it are the most important part of the department but unfortunately the J&K Government is not fulfilling their demands and they have been protesting for the last 220 days.
Jagdeep said instead of addressing the genuine demands of these employees, the Government is hell bent on harassing them further and these employees are being gifted with sticks and arrests. He justified all the demands of the employees and said that none of their demands are outside the ambit of law and each case is being taken up by employees according to law.
The senior AAP leader urged the J&K Government to resolve all the demands of the Jal Shakti Department employees by paying them salaries on time, regularizing their jobs and providing them with all the facilities like regular employees.
Reiterating the commitment of Party, Jagdeep Singh said that AAP has always stood in favour of these employees neglected by successive Governments in J&K. “AAP has always advocated for redressal of grievances of employees in J&K but unfortunately Government is non-serious about their issues,” he added.
Mentioning about the commitment of AAP towards welfare of employees, Jagdeep said that all measures will be taken for a safe and secure future of employees once party comes in Government office.
