UDHAMPUR, June 16:
Udhampur Police today recovered 21 kg of poppy straw from a car at Jakhani checking point (NHW) under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and arrested 2 accused in this connection.
Police said that a vehicle (Maruti SX4), bearing registration number HR07E-0900 and coming from Kashmir valley towards Udhampur, was intercepted by a Police team, led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Raghubir Singh, under the supervision of Anwaar Ul Haq, Addl SP Udhampur at Jakhani naka point NHW.
During checking, Police team recovered 21 kg of poppy straw from the vehicles following which driver of the car and his associate, were arrested on the spot. The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Amin Ganie, son of Mohd Akbar Ganie , resident of Anantnag and Tariq Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir of Anantnag.
Police also seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle and registered a case FIR number 326/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation of the case has been taken up.
