21 drug peddlers booked under PSA in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 28: Srinagar Police today said that 21 chronic drug peddlers have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) while 69 other drug peddlers have been detained and bound down under various provisions of CrPC.
“During today’s crackdown, many localities were raided by teams of district administration and Police led by DC Aijaz Assad and SSP Rakesh Balwal. These localities are where drug peddling activities are being reported by many vigilant citizens,” police said.
As per police, these raids led to the arrest of many accused and the recovery of a large quantity of narcotics and proceeds of drugs. District Administration and Police assured all citizens of Srinagar that action against narcotics and drugs will continue till this menace is completely eradicated from Srinagar.
“A dedicated Narcotics related control room has been started in DC office with representatives of district administration, Police, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Department with telephone number 01942483651. This control room will also have social media handlers for better public interface and will be functional from 10 am to 10 pm every day,” police said.
Police said that it hasalready activated a narcotic helpline number 9596770550 which is operational 24×7. “Srinagar police solicits assistance from the public as equal stakeholders in eradicating this evil menace from our society,” it said.
