RAMBAN, Feb 6: In another major crackdown on drug smugglers, Batote police seized a big consignment of poppy straw and seized a vehicle.
During a naka checking at Nashri late last night, a police team from police station Batote led by SHO, Inspector Vijay Choudhary stopped a truck bearing registration number JK08A-1433 on NHW near Old Bridge Nashri.
However, seeing the cops, the driver left his vehicle and fled from the spot taking the edge of darkness. When the vehicle was checked, about 195 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) was found loaded in the truck and was seized by the police.
Accordingly, a case FIR No 16/2018 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at police station Batote and investigation started to nab the driver of this vehicle.
The ongoing drive against the drug mafia and menace in district Ramban is closely being supervised by Deputy SP Headquarters, Ramban, Imtiaz Ahmed, Additional SP, Ramban, Mushtaq Choudhary under overall guidance of SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal.
