MENDHAR, May 3: At least 20 villages and three dozen hamlets falling under 14 Panchayats of Mankote tehsil of district Poonch have plunged under darkness as the local Grid Station developed major fault late last evening.
Reports said that a large electric transformer at Power Grid Station, Mankote was damaged after an explosion. With this, the power supply to a score of villages and three dozen hamlets from 14 Panchayats was snapped. Even by this evening, the power supply could not be restored. Entire has been plunged into darkness.
SDM Mendhar Rahul Yadav when contacted said that he talked to concerned PDD authorities and they have communicated that power could be restored within at least three to four days.
