2 working stills smashed, 21 Lt liquor seized

RAJOURI, May 29: The police smashed two working stills in Nowshera area of Rajouri and seized 21 liters of illicit liquor and also destroyed about 500 kg of Lahan on the spot.
Additional SP Nowshera, Girdhari Lal Sharma said that a team of police headed by Station House Officer Nowshera, Amit Singh under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera Zakir Shaheen Mirza during night patrolling near village Thalhakama noticed suspicious movement near a house and found distillation unit in the house of Rajinder Pal, son of Inder Parkash.
During search, five liters illicit liquor and utensils of distillation unit were seized from the spot whereas around 500 liters of raw material/ Lahan meant for preparation of liquor was destroyed on spot. A case FIR No, 91/20 under Excise Act has been registered.
Another police party from Lam led by SI Raza Ali intercepted two persons who were moving under suspicious condition. 10 liters of illicit liquor was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Satwan Singh, son of Madan Singh and Balwinder Singh, son of Madan Singh, residents of Lam Rajwa. They were arrested and case was registered against them. This police team also arrested one Som Raj, son of Faqir Chand, resident of Laroka who was found running a distillation unit of illicit liquor in his fields. Six liters of liquor was seized from his possession.
