2 women washed away in Nullah

RAJOURI, Aug 30: Two young women were washed away in a flooded Nullah near Jhulla bridge in Rajouri town this evening.
The mishap took place when members of ‘Sansi’ families hailing from Rajasthan, were bathing and also washing clothes near their huts raised at the bank of the Nullah under the bridge. About half a dozen women and children were also there at the Nullah.
Then suddenly flash flood struck at around 4.45 pm, in which two women were washed away while others ran for the safety. Some of their belongings were also washed away in the flash flood. There was heavy rain in Thanamandi and Darhal areas due to which the Nullah was flooded.

The police and locals of the area then started search for the bodies of the women but failed to trace till late this evening. The deceased were identified as, Sonia (25), wife of Sanjay Kumar Sansi and Manju (30), wife of Bhima Sansi (Nomad), hailing from Rajasthan and at present residing temporarily at the bank of this Nullah near Jhulla bridge, Rajouri.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter. They also asked these families to stay away from the Nullah and not to raise their huts nearby.
