Reasi, May 20: A special naka was laid by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Reasi Rajesh Gupta along with team wherein vehicles were checked for fitness during the two days extensive checking at Reasi-Mahore-Chassana route.
Following the reports of overloading and traffic norms violation, the ARTO Reasi conducted vehicle checking /Inspection and seized two Vehicles while 86 vehicles were challaned/ compounded and seven others were challaned for HSRP and various violations committed against traffic rules. The total amount of Rs 42500 was realised
Meanwhile, the inspection team awarded the people about their duties towards observing traffic norms and road safety rules while travelling. The ARTO said that it was prime duty of the commuters to raise their voice against overloading and use of mobile phones by the drivers at the time of driving and also directed the transport operators to charge 50% from students.
Further being a tough & hilly terrain fitness of vehicle was checked and the vehicle operators were made aware to ply fit vehicles on the route
