POONCH, May 12: The police seized two trucks, smuggling eight bovine animals to Kashmir valley via Mughal Road and arrested four persons in this connection.
A police spokesman said that a police naka party near Bufliaz intercepted two trucks bearing registration No. JK-13/4153 and JK-13/9395, loaded with eight (8) bovine animals on Mughal Road being smuggled to Kashmir valley.
The police seized both the trucks along with animals and arrested the alleged smugglers along with drivers. They were identified as Bilal Ahmd, son of Mohd Salim, resident of Rajpora in Pulwama, Abdul Hamid Dar, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Rajdhani in Thanna Mandi, Bilal, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Rajpora in Pulwama and Khadim Hussain, son of Dil Mohammed, resident of Hasplot in Thana Mandi.
Surankot police registered a case FIR No. 44/ 2013 against the accused persons and started investigation. It is pertinent to mention here that three additional nakas have been laid on the Mughal Road on the directions of SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain to keep check on the bovine smuggling, following strong public resentment regarding smuggling of bovine animals to Valley. Surprise ‘nakas’ are also laid sometimes on the road, the spokesman added.
