JAMMU, Feb 5: A team of Jammu Forest Division in an anti- encroachment drive demolished two under construction structures in Forest Compartment No. 4 & 6 in Chowadhi which was illegally constructed by land grabbers.
Official sources said structures on Forest land were illegally raised by Abdul Hamid, son of Noor Husain resident of Barmini, Sunjwan and one Gul Mohd, resident of Gool in district Ramban. The team also seized angle iron doors, frames, GI sheets and retrieved back one Kanal forest land.
The team of Forest officials was led by Vijay Kumar Khosla, Range Officer Bahu, along with Diwakar Singh Block Officer Chowadhi and other field staff of Bahu Forest Range.
Alok Maurya, DFO Jammu when contacted stated that on a specific information the operation was launched. The police assistance was immediately sought from SP South Jammu,. Vinay Kumar and SDPO East Rajinder Singh Rahi. He said the joint team of Forest and Police was constituted for removal of said encroachment.Despite resistance from the encroachers, the operation was smoothly conducted.
