2 soldiers die as Army ambulance falls into gorge

RAJOURI, Apr 29: Two Army personnel were killed and three injured when an Army ambulance skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Dunga Gala area near the Line of Control in Keri sector of Rajouri district today.
Official sources said that the Army ambulance met with the accident near Dunga Gala, closer to the Line of Control when its driver lost control at a sharp turn. He said the ambulance driver and a jawan were killed in the accident.

The locals rushed to the spot for rescue operation. The Army jawans also arrived there. They retrieved the bodies from the gorge and shifted them to the Army hospital. The deceased were later identified as Sepoy Paramveer Sharma of 43 RR hailing from village- Sangpur in Rajouri and Havildar Sudhir Kumar of 43 RR, a resident of village-Ramnagar Kunjan in Bihar.
After post-mortem and completion of other formalities, the process of handing over the dead bodies to the families was initiated by the Army authorities. In the same mishap three soldiers also received minor injuries but they were said to be stable.
