2 SOG cops injured in gunbattle

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: A Sub-Inspector and constable of Special Operation Group (SOG) of J&K Police were injured in the first ever encounter since the abrogation of Article 370 as security forces zeroed in a group of militants in Old Town of Baramula in North Kashmir tonight.
Reports said that a fierce gunbattle was going on between heavily armed militants and security forces this evening. Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the encounter. Special Operation Group of J&K Police and CRPF are assisting Army in the gunbattle, which was still going on till last reports came in.
The encounter took place when a group of militants fired on security forces during operation resulting into bullet injuries to a Sub-Inspector and Constable of J&K Police. The security forces retaliated effectively and a fierce gunbattle ensued with the militants.
Till last reports came in, the security forces had cordoned the area and the gunbattle was still going on.
