2 Rly company guards arrested as another hurt in accidental fire

UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: A security guard employed with Railway Construction Company was injured when a 12- bore rifle went off accidentally by his colleague at an under-construction Railway tunnel at Udhampur today.
While condition of the injured was stated to be out of danger, Police have arrested two guards, including the one who owns the rifle, which went off accidentally.
The trio was employed by Bhumijio Engineers Limited Railway Company, engaged in construction of a Tunnel at Jakher, around five kilometers from Udhampur town.
According to a Police spokesman, incident took place this morning when one of the company guards namely Bishan Dutt, who was owner of Licensed 12 Bore Gun, left the post about one hour before his duty. Later he asked his colleague Yash Pal to bring his gun, which accidentally fell down and went off resulting into injuries to the third guard namely Preet Kumar Son of Rakesh Kumar, resident of Jakhar, the spokesman said.
Due to negligence on duty in the handling of and handing  over the weapon, a case under Sections 3/25 Arms Act, 337 of RPC  has been registered at Udhampur Police Station and both the guards Bishan Dutt and Yash Paul were arrested.
The injured guard, who received injuries in his right thigh, was shifted to the hospital where he was immediately operated upon and his condition was stated to be stable, Police said.
