2 Punjab based smugglers held with intoxicants

SAMBA, July 6: Ghagwal Police today foiled a major drug smuggling bid and recovered 5760 bottles of Corex and 38160 Capsules from the truck and arrested two drug peddlers.
Police said that on the basis of an information a team of Ghagwal Police Station headed by Inspector, Kuldeep Raj, SHO laid vehicle Nakka checking at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police Station in district Samba.
During the Nakka checking police intercepted  a truck bearing registration number  PB10EH- 5212 that was coming from Kathua side. During the checking of the vehicle police recovered 5760 bottles of Corex and 38160 banned capsules from the truck and arrested the driver and conductor of truck on spot. It also seized the truck and the contraband material.
The arrested persons have been identified as Gurmeet Singh (driver of the truck ), son of Gurmail Singh resident of Mankwal, Ludhiana and his associate, Bhupinder Singh, son of Amrik Singh resident of Pawdan Punjab.
In this regard a case FIR No 69/20 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act stand registered against them in Ghagwal Police Station and further investigations taken up.
