SRINAGAR, May 9: In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the elevation/placement of two Superintending Engineers as Chief Engineers and five Executive Engineers as In-charge SEs in the Jal Shakti Department.

Upon their elevation, I/C Superintending Engineer, Mohammad Taj Chowdhary has been appointed as I/C Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Kashmir while I/C Superintending Engineer, Tirath Ram, has been posted as I/C Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Kashmir.
These appointments have been made in view of the exceptional circumstances arising from significant vacancies and a shortage of senior officers at the top level in the department.
The Establishment-cum-Selection Committee recommended these elevations, underscoring the Government’s commitment to filling critical positions.
Meanwhile, Jal Shakti Minister, Javed Ahmed Rana, has ordered the elevation of five Executive Engineers as Superintending Engineers, effectively filling up all vacancies at the Superintending Engineer level in the Department.
This move is expected to bolster the implementation of vital water supply projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
Those promoted are Vikay Singh Manhas, Sohan Lal, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Vaneet Kumar Vaid and Shakeel-ur-Rehman.
Consequent upon these promotions, the Government ordered placement/ transfer and posting of eight Superintending Engineers.
I/C SE Zakir Hussain has been transferred from City Drainage Circle SMC Srinagar to WUCMA, Zafar Mustafa Khan from Hyd Circle Pulwama to LCMA, while Nazia Nazir from LCMA to Hyd Circle Pulwama Hqrs Shopian.
Meanwhile, newly elevated Vijay Singh Manhas shall report to Administrative Department of Jal Shakti till further orders, Sohan Lala to JK WRRA, Rajiv Kumar Sharma as I/C SE Hyd Circle Poonch, Vaneet Kumar Vaid to JK WRRA while Shakeel-ur-Rehman has been posted to Hyd Circle, Kupwara.
